1st semester reflection

I)  Write a paragraph in response to each of the following as they relate to you and your perception of your class experience:  Quality of Your Work Effort Participation Improvement Adjustment  Address the sub-topics in the bullet points below but  do not write a list –this should be more of a narrative, describing your thoughts about your work in this class so far. 1. Quality of work I think my quality of work was decent, but could have been better. The subjects I did my projects on I think were good and very unique. I always get my assignments done on time and refill the requirements said in class and on the blog. I think that I don't always stretch my assignments to their full potential but they are always good. I feel like I normally have the same format and resolution for all my projects which is 8x10 and 300 resolution. My work is always submitted on time. I always take two ideas and do the best out of all these ideas.  2. Effort I always try to take photos whe
With that in mind, describe Helnwein's image in as much detail as you can and in a separate post, record your answers on your Blog. Look at the image closely (Click on it to enlarge). What do you see? Describe it as if you were recounting it in detail to someone who had never seen it. Think about the scale--how could the size affect the meaning?  Think about the material, the logistics and engineering of mounting it.  Is it one contiguous image or is it spliced together or can't you tell?  Think about the location--is it urban? Rural? Residential? Industrial? Given the image's location, who do you think will see the it? Who is the intended audience? Describe the mood of the image. What is the expression on the girl's face? Is it blase? Is it engaged? Is it optimistic? Wondering? Melancholy?  Finally, consider the title "The Last Girl". What do you think the title suggests?  The girls face is a mural with real people climbing on top of it. It lo

Response to work by Gottfried Helnwein

Describe the image as closely as you can.  Write your description on your Blog. What do you think is going on here?  Is this an artistic image or a documentary image (or both)? Is the image Photoshopped? Try to assign meaning to the image. What do you think the photographer's intent was? What does the image say to you? How does the difference in scale between the man and the girl's face add to your interpretation of the photograph? This is a picture of a man climbing up someone's face. I think this is an artistic image because it's not something that could happen in real life. Yes, it would have to be photoshopped to get the second person on there. I think this photo means the journey someone takes in their life and the personal challenges they overcome. I think their intent was to allow everyone to have a different meaning. Having the scale difference between the girl and the man allows for depth in the picture.
